Summit Focuses on Reducing Lead in Developing Countries

Lead acid batteries are still in use throughout the world. In developing countries, lead pollution is impacting children's IQ to the tune of losing 3 to 5 points in their development. Lead is a known carcinogen. PURE Earth, an NGO, will speak at this year's Summit and how to provide solutions to this devastating problem. www.pureearth.org

In 1976, I worked with the US EPA is taking the lead out of gasoline, and in 1993 I went to many dirty energy conferences in Asia and spoke about fuel reformulation. We got the lead out of gasoline and that has protected children in much of the world. We can do it again with lead in batteries and of course water.
